Assessment AA Leadership Theory Report

Assessment AA will explore leadership theory and its relationship to your leadership journey.

You are required to choose two leadership theories and conduct a critical review of both theories.

A critical review is the summarisation and evaluation of the ideas and information in the literature. It expresses the writer's (your) point of view in the light of what you already know on the subject and what is acquired from related texts.

You will need to conduct a literature review of academic journals and texts to compare and contrast both of the theories you have chosen.To contrast something is to look for differences among two or more elements, but compare is to do the opposite, to look for similarities. This will enable you to complete a critical review.

You will have a minimum of 14 academic journals. You may also use texts and contemporary books or web-based information from good sources in addition to the journals.

You will then need to examine your own leadership style using one of the theories you have reviewed.
You will provide specific examples to support your thinking.

Prepare and Submit a Report that has the following structure:
- Introduction- outlining and signposting the report
- Identification of the two theories and why you chose them
- Your literature review
- Critical commentary that shows what you think based on the evidence you have found - Review of your own leadership style using one of the theories with specific examples
- Conclusion
- References

Rationale

The purpose of this project is to provide you with an opportunity to learn about yourself as a leader and research an established leadership theory.

The assessment addresses the following learning objectives:

1. be able to critically analyse current organisational issues in leadership in the context of constant change;

2. be able to explain the movement from leadership positions to leader-like behaviour and the context of both roles;

3. be able to explain contemporary leadership approaches and be able to recognise a particular approach/style/behaviour using a contemporary leadership lens; and

4. be able to critically reflect on own skills to develop and evolve own leadership capabilities
