Two samples are taken from different populations, one with sample size 1 = 5 and one with sample size 2 = 11. The mean of the first sample is 1 = 37.9 and the mean of the second sample is 2 = 406.3, with variances 2 = 64.2 and 2 = 135.1, repectively. Can we conclude that the variances of the12 two populations differ (use = .05)?
