A boy of mass 35 kg and a girl of mass 40 kg are skating towards each other with speeds of 2.5 m/s, and 2.0 m/s respectively. When they meet, they clasp hands and continue to move together.

a. Assume that there is no friction, and find their combined velocity after they meet.

b. Check if the kinetic energy is conserved in this collision. How would you classify the collision? If the kinetic energy is not conserved, find the percentage loss in kinetic energy.
