Question: A roof truss tension member is made up of 2L6×4× 1/2 (total A g =9.50 in . 2) of A36 steel as shown. The bolts are - 3/4 -in- diameter. A325-N high-strength bolts in standard holes. Compute the tensile capacity P for the connection shown. The special note for angle tension connections of Problem applies

Problem: Design an end connection using longitudinal welds and an end transverse weld to develop the full tensile capacity of the angle shown. Use A36 steel and E70 electrodes. Note: A reduction coefficient for the computation of the net area for a tension member that does not have all its cross-sectional elements connected to the supporting member is commonly used. This factor is neglected in this text.
