A structural steel W12×40 has a span length of 20 ft. The beam is fixed at one end and simply supported at the other end. Both supports are on the same level. The beam is loaded with a concentrated load of 20,000 lb at a point 8 ft from the simply supported end. Compute the maximum bending stress in the beam.
