As such, students will be required to act as an educator and compose a letter to a real or hypothetical recipient concerning substance use or an abuse-related topic.
Whether you are writing to a real or hypothetical person, report the person's age at the beginning of the assignment. Address the letter to your recipient and indicate through the letter:
1. The important aspect/topic of substance use or abuse that you feel the person needs to know at this time
2. Why this information is important
3. You must include a minimum of three pertinent facts pertaining to your substance use or abuse topic, woven throughout your letter.
The letter is intended to be informal and a creative writing exercise; however, the information provided must be accurate and age-appropriate for the recipient you have selected. You should utilize facts learned throughout the course in your letter; however, citing your sources is not required.
