Assignment Objective
This assignment aims to prepare the students to be able to prepare an effective and holistic design of Enterprise data Center. The student will demonstrate his skills in analyzing the key considerations that must be respected, determining the requested requirements and planning the process.
Assignment Tasks
1) Task 1 - Submit a work proposal for this assignment on or before 29/10/2020 (23:59) which must include:
• Understanding of deliverables - a detail description of Task 2 and Task 3.
• List of Resources
• Timeline for completion of the given tasks.
The work proposal must be submitted in a word file through the link available in Moodle.
2) Task 2
Enterprise data centers, whether small or hyper-scale must be well designed in order to increase their efficiency and sustainability. Indeed, the infrastructure is expensive and it is important to take into account a number of considerations in order to increase the Return On Investment.
With reference to at least 3 publications, write a report of 700 words in which you discuss at least 5 key considerations of Enterprise Data Center design. Your answer may include: Location, Reliability, Security, Flexibility and Scalability, Emergency backup,...
3) Task 3
As an Engineer in Information security, study the physical and logical security requirements for an Enterprise data Center regardless of its size. You need to focus on practical solutions and support your answer with detailed explanation and figures whenever possible.
4) Task 4
The design of an Enterprise Data center involves a number of stakeholders such as architects, accountants, electricians,... The Data Centre design Engineer must accommodate the requirements and respect the key considerations that were determined when following the design stages.
In this context, determine the major stages involved in the design of Enterprise data Centre and support your answer with a diagram.
5) Task 5
Complete the MOOC course, on "Data centers", shared with you on Moodle and write a reflection covering the following: gained knowledge and evaluation of your experience.
