Col suffers from multiple health conditions, including T2 Diabetes, bilateral below-knee amputations (BKA) due to peripheral vascular disease (PVD), Korsakoff syndrome, and anorexia. Col Winchester was admitted to Sunny Hills Retirement Centre several years ago due to the complex nature of his medical conditions. Before joining the facility, he was being cared for at home by his wife Betty, who faced difficulties providing adequate assistance with his activities of daily living (ADLs). Col's two sons regularly visit him, as he and Betty are now separated.
