The case study below requires student groups to apply clinical reasoning and critical thinking to determine and provide safe patient care. Student groups should explore the patient case study, and all provided documents, to assist in populating a complete Clinical Reasoning Cycle. Students should refer to Canvas for further details for this assessment piece. Mr. Col Winchester, a 72-year-old resident at Sunny Hills Retirement Centre. Col suffers from multiple health conditions, including T2 Diabetes, bilateral below-knee amputations (BKA) due to peripheral vascular disease (PVD), Korsakoff syndrome, and anorexia. Col Winchester was admitted to Sunny Hills Retirement Centre several years ago due to the complex nature of his medical conditions. Before joining the facility, he was being cared for at home by his wife Betty, who faced difficulties providing adequate assistance with his activities of daily living (ADLs). Col's two sons regularly visit him, as he and Betty are now separated.
