Cyrus is a 71 year-old that presents to the clinic complaining of staining to urinate, a weak urine stream, difficulty emptying the bladder, and dribbling at the end of urination for the past six months. Results from the IPPS showed moderate symptoms, while the digital exam demonstrated a smooth prostate. Cyrus has a PMH of HTN that is controlled for the past 10 years with diet, exercise and an active lifestyle, as well as OSA. Current medications include multivitamin and fish oil. Vital signs: BP 152/96, HR 84, O2 Sat 97% on RA, RR 16, and temp 98.7. Cyrus denies smoking cigarettes, and drinks alcohol once per year. After completing urinalysis, urine cytology, and multiple labs including a PSA blood test, infection and cancer was ruled out. Cyrus is diagnosed with BPH.
