Assignment:

Interpretation - Pharmacodynamic Drug Interactions Pharmacodynamic drug interactions occur when the response to one drug is altered by another drug. Pharmacodynamic interactions may occur via either direct (two drugs acting on the same target) or indirect (two drugs acting on different targets) mechanisms. Question Provide examples of a direct and an indirect pharmacodynamic interaction, and briefly discuss the consequences of each interaction in terms of how the medicines are used.

Interpretation - Potency and Efficacy

Potency and efficacy are important pharmacodynamic characteristics of a medicine. These characteristics define the effectiveness of a medicine with respect to treating a condition and the amount (or dose) of the medicine that is required to treat the condition.

Question

Using furosemide and thiazide diuretics as an example of two medicines from the same drug class, discuss the clinical implications of any differences in the potency and efficacy of these two medicines.

Interpretation - Drug Selectivity

Beta blockers are used in the treatment of multiple cardiovascular disorders and other conditions such as glaucoma.

Question:
