Question: Every family is different and unique in their own way. To me, a family is a group of individuals who may share similar features, interests, or habits. Although many families, such as my own, do not necessarily need to be related by blood, families involve close ties to others.
This includes things such as raising children, to teaching skills to children, and instilling those habits that make each individual unique. Families do not necessarily involve close relationships to all those involved, however they are defined by each person''s relation to the other. Families can include half or step siblings/parents. According to Marci et al., (2013) families are diverse yet not unitary. They define the individuals involved while also challenging the typical "nuclear family" ideal society.
Meaning, they involve blended families, while dealing with life changes such as divorce, death, and remarrying. In simplest terms, the authors defined a family as those individuals who are blood related or form some sort of commitment to share their lives with one another (Marci et al., 2013).
