Mustard gas can also function as an alkylating agent, this involves the alkyl groups to be attached to the DNA structure. When mustard gas forms a bond between two DNA strands it prevents them from unwinding for replication. The mutagen can also result in incorrect base pairing between the DNA nucleotides which can result in mutation. is this right.
