Purpose - This assignment is a case study analysis in human resource information management. You will evaluate how technology can positively impact the recruitment and selection (hiring process) of an organization. See the case study: Hitting the brick wall: The challenge of finding more food services workers (Ivey Publishing). This assignment is linked to Chapter 8 - e-Recruiting.
Case - HITTING THE BRICK WALL: THE CHALLENGE OF FINDING MORE FOOD SERVICES WORKERS.
Instructions - Greg Thompson, district manager at Sodexo in Ontario, had to significantly increase the number of his food service workers to fulfil the needs of his client, Ontario Power Generation (OPG), for two OPG sites operated by Sodexo. Greg seeks to implement, as soon as possible, an online recruitment and selection strategy to find the right candidates through the Internet.
Deliver this strategy in two parts. The first part of your case study analysis is a paper in which you need to answer four questions. The second part is to create an effective PowerPoint presentation to communicate your strategy, which covers all the associated questions answered in your paper. You must reference all your sources, which can include e-books, online articles, websites, etc. (see below for instructions).
Part 1: Paper
- Title page with title of case, name of student, instructor name, class name & section, semester and date
- Number of pages: 5-6 (not including cover and reference pages)
- Microsoft Word document: Times New Roman or Arial (12 point), 1-1/2 line spacing
- Page numbers
- Questions and headings relevant to content
- Citations in APA style for all ideas or claims drawn from other sources, including personal and online sources. Reference list of all cited works in APA style at end of paper.
Questions -
Question 1 - Discuss why Sodexo should improve its online recruitment and selection strategy and identify two main benefits and two disadvantages of using this method. Support your response by giving concrete examples.
Question 2 - Compare two e-recruitment platforms that Sodexo can use to facilitate the recruitment and selection process of food services workers. Provide a comparison table or chart with the features, pros and cons, and price for each of them and recommend the most appropriate one to solve their needs.
Question 3 - Propose an online recruitment and selection strategy that can improve Sodexo's process and satisfy the needs of its client in terms of qualified food workers.
- Your strategy will need to include a step-by-step process (flow chart) that will be cost-effective and that will target the right audience and create the appropriate recruitment environment online.
- You also need to include the choice of online recruitment software, social media channels and online activities Sodexo should use in order to attract and generate online attention from potential qualified workers.
- Support your thoughts by explaining each step of your flow chart.
Question 4 - What type of e-screening process do you recommend to Greg Thompson in order for Sodexo to be more effective in its hiring process, especially related to security clearance? Support your thoughts by giving specific examples.
