Animal Assisted Therapy is experiential in nature, and careful planning is needed to provide effective treatment. This assignment asks you to do the first steps in the planning process, of listing a set of possible experiences that could help the client meet his or her therapy goals. You can also look at the handout for an example of how to do this assignment. The handout also includes a Session or Lesson Plans Worksheet for you to turn in. Included are several sample treatment plans and experience lists for fictitious cases. These are provided as examples to help clarify what is meant by "experiences" and "animal experiences". The lists are not comprehensive in that there are many more possible experiences. These are simply a few examples. Instructions: 1. You can use the Session or Lesson Plans Worksheet to help you. 2. Read the treatment plans and the generic and animal experience lists for each of the cases. Notice that you have 3 therapy treatment plans, and 2 education group plans. Consider the animal experience list as to whether the impact on the animal is likely to be beneficial to the animal and the animal-client relationship or at least not too annoying.
