Assessment description
This assessment will highlight students' capability of delivering the key issues of their major project. It will prepare them for their future careers by developing their interpersonal skills through communication with an audience.
Assessment instructions
You will deliver a presentation using PowerPoint or another similar tool for this assessment. Presentations will take place in week 12 and 13 during the tutorial session. Your tutor will allocate you a presentation time and day by the Week 10 tutorial.
1. The instructions around what to cover in your presentation will vary based on whether you completed Major project part 1 and 2 as a group or individually.
Please review the information carefully:
A. Group
If you completed Major project part 1 and 2 as a group, as a group divide the major project parts (excluding the literary review) amongst yourselves. For fairness, ensure each team member has approximately the same presentation time.
B. Individual
If you complete Major project part 1 and 2 individually, you will complete a summarised presentation of the major project (excluding the literature review).
2. In this assessment, your communication and presentation capabilities will be assessed as opposed to your application of knowledge. We will look out for the following two areas:
- Your presentation design should:
- Be succinct and well-organised (bullet points are much better than long sentences or paragraphs)
- Be structured to reflect the integrity of the major project
- Incorporate visual aids in the most effective manner
- Where appropriate and required, use in-text referencing and a reference list slide for key points taken from sources. This includes the visual aids.
- When you are presenting, you should:
- Avoid reading slides
- Look at the camera/audience directly
- Mute microphone when others are presenting (online students only)
- Engage the audience
3. Note that you may be asked questions at the end of the presentation by your tutor and/or your peers.
