Assignment

Problem: You are a sales representative for a frisbee company. The company sells five brands of frisbees: DeKalb Dragon, Central Centurion, Gwinnett Gladiator, North Nordic and the South Surfer. Both the unit costs and the percentages of mark-up are different. When you were first hired as a trainee, your supervisor had given you some basic training on calculating prices based on unit costs and mark-up.

Unit Price = Unit Cost + (Mark-up percent * Unit Cost)
Shipping Cost = Shipping cost per unit * Total Quantity
Unit Total = Qty * Unit Price

Preparation of spreadsheet:

Part A. Create the spreadsheet shown below. At the top of the spreadsheet, enter your name, title of the spreadsheet & current date (using the =TODAY function). Note that the numbers in bold were created by typing in cell addresses--not numbers.Enhance the appearance of your spreadsheet as follows:

Use an outline border around the spreadsheet

Change the font to one of your choosing

Bold, center and underline the headings.

Part B. After having created the worksheet in Part A, you are now ready to copy that "template" to Sheet 2 of your worksheet and replace the quantities with actual quantities ordered by your first customer. Rename Sheet 2 (look at the tab) to something more meaningful. You can do that by double-clicking on the Sheet 2 tab at the bottom of the screen and editing the default label. Your first customer has requested the order below. Please enter the numbers. The shipping charge for this particular area is five cents perfrisbee. If your worksheet was created correctly with formulas in Part A, the Unit Totals,Subtotals and Shipping Costs should recalculate. Save the spreadsheet. If all goes well, you should see $2,019.00 display as the Total Cost.

Part C. After having created the worksheet in Part B, you are now ready to copy that worksheet to Sheet 3 of your worksheet and replace the quantities with actual quantities ordered by your second customer. Rename Sheet 3 (double-click the tab) to something more meaningful. Your next customer called and requested this order:

The shipping charge for this particular area is seven cents per frisbee. Save your spreadsheet.

If all goes well, the Total Cost should display as $3,528.50.

Part D. After having created the worksheet in Part C, you are now ready to copy that worksheet to Sheet 4 (select Insert, Worksheet for additional sheets) of your worksheet and replace the quantities with actual quantities ordered by your customer. Rename Sheet 4 (double-click on the tab) to something more meaningful. The next phone call is from a customer in Hong Kong. He wants to buy 10,000 Gwinnett Gladiators (and no other products) and wants an exclusive distributorship in Hong Kong and China. After a long discussion with your boss, the company decides to give a fifteen percent discount on the selling price. Calculate this discount somewhere in the unit total column. Do not alter the mark-up percent! Shipping cost will be twenty cents per frisbee.

Enter the desired quantity and shipping cost as specified. Save your spreadsheet.

If all goes well, you should see the number $46,625 display as the total cost for this order.
