Given the diameter and temperature of the sun as 860 000 miles and 6000°K, calculate the temperature of the earth assuming that the earth and the sun are black bodies, and that the surrounding universe is at 0°K. Because of the large distance between the earth and the sun (93 million miles) there are some simplifying assumptions that can be made regarding the geometry.
