1. A radio wave is launched at sea level with an elevation angle of 1°. The refractive index is constant at 300 N-units up to an altitude of 100 m where it abruptly decreases to 200 n-units. Using Bouger's law, calculate the new elevation angle.

2. If the refractive index decreases continuously with increasing altitude by 75 N-units per kilometer, calculate the "effective earth radius" (i.e., calculate keRe).
