The 8-m shaft, 100 mm in diameter, is made of a brittle material for which the ultimate stress in tension or compression is 40 MPa. The shaft carries simultaneously the axial compressive load P = 200 kN and the torque T. Calculate the maximum allowable value of T using the maximum normal stress theory.
