Three concentric uniformly charged isolating shells (hollow spheres) of radii 6cm, 10cm, and 20cm each carry a charge. The smallest shell carries 3nC, the medium 4nC, and the largest shell 5nC. Here, concentric means that all three shells share the same center point. Calculate the magnitude of the electric field at a point 15cm from the center point along the x-axis, indicate the direction of the electric field in your diagram.

What is the average induced emf in the coil : A 8.50cm diameter wire coil is initially oriented so that its plane is perpendicular to a magnetic field of 0.690T pointing up. During the course of 0.180s, the field is changed to one of 0.350T pointing down. What is the average induced emf in the c..
Thin-lens representation of a compound microscope : The figure below shows a thin-lens representation of a compound microscope (not to scale). The objective produces a real image I of object O just inside the focal point F1 of the eyepiece. Image I then acts as an object for the eyepiece, which pro..

Amount of voltage induced if measured at the ends of wire : A uniform magnetic field of 25 mT magnitude points into the page. The wire is 1.4m long and straight, but has a loop smack in the middle. The loop has a radius of 3cm. The wire is then quickly - within 50ms - pulled taut and the loop disappears. Calc..
Variable strength is used to steer electrons in television : A focused magnetic field of variable strength is used to "steer" electrons in a television tube (CRT). The electrons emerge in a stream from a "gun" that has accelerated them across a potential difference. A magnetic field can deflect the beam of ..
What is the force of the first wire on the second wire : A 4m long wire with thickness 5mm carries a current 0.4 A. A second identical wire of equal length and thickness is parallel and carries 0.6 A in the same direction. The two wires are separated by 12 cm as measured from the outside of the wire.
What is the voltage in the secondary coil : A step-up transformer increases 15.7V to 110V. What is the current in the secondary as compared to the primary? Assume 100 percent efficiency.
