A tractor-trailer truck driver friend often delivers to companies that do not have a fork truck or loading dock. She wants to install a lift-gate on her trailer so she can load and unload her truck without a fork truck. The lift-gate has a 5000 lb. lift capacity and a 3 horsepower, 12.0VDC motor that operates the hydraulic pump. The FLA of the motor is 200A. The motor will be located 80 feet from the generator on the engine. The 80 feet of cable length includes the coiled umbilical cord between the cab and the trailer. Because of the high current draw of the motor, the lift-gate cannot be operated by just a battery i.e. the battery voltage is too low. The engine will have to be running so the voltage source is the generator. The generator Vis is 14.4V. The Rs of the generator is 0.0089ohms.
1. Using an appropriately sized copper cable based upon NEC ampacity (HO 15 for 90 C cable), calculate the voltage at the motor.
2. Calculate the source voltage
3. Calculate what standard size copper cable will give us 12.00V at the motor
4. Check your cable size determination
5. Calculate the gross and net power generated by the generator
If the work output is 10kW, find the required heat transfer rate from the high to the low temperature source, and the required heat transfer rate to the low temperature source. What is the themal efficiency of the engine
An OpAMP has a unity gain frequency (ft) of 10MHz and a slew rate of 10V/us and AVoc = 120dB at DC (f=0).Assume VCC = -VEE = 15 Volts. a. Approximate the cutoff frequency of the OPAMP itself.
select a window function to limit the number of samples of an infinite impulse response and the filter specifications are the same, regardless of which window function you select. If you are given the option of using either a Hamming
A certain lightbulb has a tungsten filament with a resistance of 21.9 when at 20.0°C and 145 when hot. Assume the resistivity of tungsten varies linearly with temperature even over the large temperature range involved here.
Consider the following differential equation, where x(t) is the input and y(t) is the output: d/dt y(t)+5y(t)=2x(t) Suppose the input is x(t) = 4u(t) and the initial condition is y(0-) = 6 1. What is the impulse response for the system
Electrical wiring: Potentials of neutral and earth wires, Why is the neutral wire in housing circuits also at zero potential
A 3-phase, 2300 V, 60 Hz, 12-pole, Y-connected synchronous motor has 4.5 ? per phase synchronous reactance and negligible stator winding resistance. The motor is connected to an infinite bus and draws 250 A at 0.8 power factor lagging.
A GAL is different from a PAL because A GAL has more inputs and outputs; A GAL is implemented with a different technology; A GAL can replace several different PAL's; A GAL can be reprogrammed and a PAL cannot
2. What is the expected output frequency of a sample and hold system if fs= finput 3. Which is input frequencies will give an output frequency of 50 Hz when put through a sample and hold system if our sampling frequency is 488 Hz
The axis of the cylinder is along the z axis, and the electrons are moving with a velocity vector v in the positive z direction. The velocity of the electrons is 0.1c where c is the speed of light (2.99792458 ´ 108 [m/s]). The magnitude of the cur..
Find all values of alpha such that the system is stable for K = 2. If the unity feedback closes around this G(s) and an input is a unit step r(t) = 1u(t), what is the stead-state error, e_ss, as a function of alpha and K?
A lighting load operates from a 208-V 60-Hz supply and is rated 1.0 kW with a power factor of 0.9 lagging. A 40-µF capacitor is connected in parallel with this load. Calculate the total power factor and the percent change in line current.
