Redox equilibrium 1) You want to perform a redox titration to quantify Fe2+3+2+4++ by oxidation to Fe. Sloppy Joe brings you some "oxidant choices" for your titration, including a solution of V, a solution of Ce and a solution of Ag .

a) From the available solutions, choose the most adequate oxidant species based on thermodynamic arguments and justify your choice  (indicating why you would or would not choose any of the presented species) based on the table below.

Ce4+ + e = Ce3+ E0 = 1.61 V

V3+ + e = V2+ E0 = -0.26 V

Ag+ + e = Ag E0 = 0.80 V

Fe3+ + e = Fe2+ E0 = 0.77 V

b) Calculate the equilibrium constants for the reaction of Fe2+ with Ce4+ and with Ag+ . Verify your answer in part a.
