a. Calculate the death rate constant (K) if the number of survivors at the 15 minute mark is 6.5 x 104 cells.

b. How many cells will remain after 60 minutes of disinfection?

c. How many cells were there at the start of the disinfection process (i.e. at t = 0 minutes)?

2) If at the start of a disinfection process, there are 5.2 x 105 CFU/mL and D has previously been determined to be 20 minutes, determine whether or not a two hour disinfection treatment will sterilize this culture. Assume that the sample is considered sterile when the concentration is less than 1 cfu/ml. Explain your reasoning and show proof using a calculation!
