The simple (autonomous) consumption multiplier is given by 1/(1 - MPC). Suppose that the U.S. MPC is 0.9. Calculate the consumption multiplier. If consumption expenditure by consumers decreases by $100 billion due to the Coronavirus crisis, how much will U.S. GDP decrease in the simple model?
