In a hydraulic application, hydraulic oil of relative density 0.82 is pumped through an 8 mm diameter pipe with velocity 2.5 m/s. The pressure at the inlet to the pump is atmospheric and at the outlet to the pump is 6.5 Mpa (abs). Determine the fluid power change due to the pump using both Equations 12.1 and 12.2 if changes to potential and velocity head are negligible.

A turbine used for hydroelectric power generation has a total head of 86 m at the turbine inlet and 4.6 m at the turbine outlet. If 1.7 m3/s of water flow through the turbine, calculate the change in fluid power.
