Assignment:

The respiration rate of mealworms was determined using a Scholander respirometer. A vial of NaOH was added to the vial containing 3.4 grams of mealworms and the apparatus was properly assembled and equilibrated. The syringe was initially set at 1ml and was changed to 0.7 to equalize the levels of the blue fluid at the end of the 15 minute trial. Show how you would calculate the respiration rate of the mealworms in moles of glucose/hour/gram. Note that 1mL of gas is equivalent to 4.0 x 10-5 moles of gas. SHOW YOUR WORK.
