WK: Kinetics
This week you will be introduced to deriving kinetic rate expressions from balanced chemical reaction equations. You will calculate reaction rates from experimental data and perform integrated rate law calculations for zero, first, and second-order reactions.
Scientists often make predictions. To make a prediction, scientists use the best possible and most available prior knowledge that they have at the time. Sometimes the predictions are correct, and sometimes they are not. In this discussion, you will practice making predictions based on what you see when you quickly skim through a portion of the textbook.
Skim Ch. 17, "Kinetics." You do not need to read this chapter fully to answer this discussion question. (You will read the chapter later this week as you complete your activities and assignments.) After you have skimmed the chapter, select 1 section (e.g., 17.2 Factors Affecting Reaction Rates).
Respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words:
List the section you selected.
Predict how the information from the section you selected might add to your understanding of the learning goal for this week: Quantify the rate and behavior of chemical reactions at the atomic level. Maximize your scores with our expert assignment help - get help now!
Predict how information from the section you selected might help you in your future career. Also, discuss how not knowing the information might hinder your future career.
Pick 1 image, figure, or graph from the section that stands out to you and briefly describe the image. List the page number and figure title of the image (e.g., Figure 17.6 Iron powder reacting vs. an iron nail reacting p. 878). Discuss what made the image interesting to you and why you selected it.
