1. Paste the screen shot of your current profile:
2. Print your drug list. Check that you have counted the number of pills correctly. If you have mistakes, there is a 15 point deduction. No partial credit.
3. Fill out this chart with your results (15 points):
Each of these questions is worth 10 points; no partial credit
4.. Explain "formulary" and "drug tiering" in your own words. Look up how the Medicare website explains these terms. Use examples from your assignment, so you can explain it to a patient.
5. Identify when a patient goes into a coverage gap in each plan and write an explanation of the coverage gap in your own words. Paste the screen shots here. Use examples from your assignment, again so you can explain it to a patient. If your plans do not have a coverage gap, you probably don't have all the drugs covered. You still need to explain a coverage gap to get credit for this question.
6. Are the pharmacies charging the patients different amounts? Why? Change the insurance plan and keep the same pharmacy. Are the results different? Document your answers. Which one is better for the patient?
7. Will the patient be better off buying drugs through Good RX? Run the drugs and dosages through Good RX. Look at the costs of the pharmacies. Compare those costs with the Medicare Part D costs. Are any drugs cheaper?
8. Calculate how much money each plan gets from the government and the patients, and then subtract the cost of the drugs from that total. Which plan gets the most money from the government? Which from the patients? Which plan gets the least amount of excess dollars over drug costs?
9. Identify when a plan lets a patient use a mail order pharmacy. Compare the prices of mail order to retail. Which one works better for the patient cost-wise?
10. Compare the drug coverage under the Medicare Part D and Medicare C plans. Which plan do you think is better for your patient, cost-wise? Which plan do you think is better for health services? Does the planfinder give you enough information to make a decision?
The deductions:
• Wrong zip code or category, or both - minus 10.
• Did not include January numbers, but started with February, minus 10
• Wrong drug list, or incomplete drug list, minus 15.
