Assignment Objective
This assignment provides the students with an understanding of the underlying concepts of logistics and supply chain management and the importance of logistics and supply chain as core competency elements. It will cover important topics the place and role of supply chain and logistics as operational functions of business organization, the ability to identify problems and tasks, critically analyse situation and recommend a solution within the supply chain and logistic functional framework and the interconnectivity of logistics with other business functions including marketing, information technology, quality management and operations.

Having read the above case, students are required to familiarize themselves with the operations of any of the following ports (choose the port in Oman that you prefer):- Muscat Port, Sur Port, Sohar Port, Duqm Port, Salalah Port or Suwaiq Port in Oman. Students must familiarize themselves with port operations at the chosen port basing on the lectures that were done, newspaper articles, government reports, GCC Reports, ASYAD/Oman Logistics Centre Reports, WTO/UNCTAD Reports, World Bank Reports, MEC online sources, set book, internet sources, conference papers and journals (see MIG).

Journal articles: Students are required to use a minimum of ten (10) relevant logistics and supply chain journal articles in the body of the assignment and reference them correctly under References section. These scholarly citations must include citations by professional bodies like CIPS, CITL and others. Any assignment without the required journal articles will not qualify for A Grade as a rule. ¾ of the journal citations should be 2014 to 2020 journals.
