Internetworking Technologies Assignment - Network Requirement Analysis and Plan

Purpose of the assessment (with ULO Mapping) - Main objective of this assignment is to enable student to understand networking devices, gather requirements for a given business case study and plan a network design.

After successful completion of this assignment, students should be able to:

a) Explain human factors in achieving business and technical goals through planning and design.

b) Develop architectural internetworking design for the business and application domains.

Assignment Description -

Business case study: Network design proposal for a School

Description - Located in USA, the Evergreen school campus sits on approximately three acres of land and serves over 400 students from kindergarten to high school with a staff of 40 teachers. With students needing Internet access for their education, the school needed to build a wired network to give students more opportunities to access information online. This historic school also wants to prepare for the future of digital education, which allows E-learning through digital textbooks and online homework and libraries. "Nowadays, no one can live without the Internet. So this is very urgent for the school to build this network" said Carlos, a student at Evergreen. "Not only for students, but also for a more efficient learning environment."

Evergreen needed a comprehensive, technologically advanced Network solution that is cost effective and allow for network monitoring. The solution had to be easy to deploy and manage due to limited staff. The network need to cover the two main buildings of the primary school and high school with 20 classrooms in total. Client is also requesting wireless internet access at both buildings because A powerful wireless network would also allow teachers and students to use their devices at school. Moreover, the staff and students each needed separate log-in credentials, to allow them different levels of Internet access. With students needing Internet access for their education, the school needed to build a network to give students more opportunities to access information online. (You will need to demonstrate your assignment during laboratory class).

Write a report with the following contents - Section to be included in the report -

1. Project scope - Outline of the report ( in 3-4 sentences)

2. Project hardware requirements

a. Name of the network device with manufacturer's name, series, model and ports

b. Type of the cables

c. Name of the server, PC with specification such as operating system, RAM, hard disk etc.

3. Network Design

a. Use Cisco packet Tracer to generate network diagram.

b. Write justification of the network design.

4. Network device configurations - Switch configuration

a. set hostname as your name

b. set system clock to 29th August 2019 5:00pm

c. display the name of the file and version of IOS

d. display the name of the interfaces

e. display 6 IOS modes

5. Network device configurations - Router configuration

a. set hostname as your family name

b. set system clock to 20th September 2018 4:45pm

c. display the name of the file and version of IOS

d. display the name of the interfaces

e. display 6 IOS modes

6. Demonstration - Demonstrate switch and router configuration.

7. Reference style - Follow IEEE reference style.

The assignment must be in MS Word format, 1.5 spacing, 11-pt Calibri (Body) font and 2 cm margins on all four sides of your page with appropriate section headings.
