For Formative Assessment Task 1, read given case study on '3 Strategies for Developing Innovative Thinking', and answer the questions given below in relevance to the journal.

Formative Assessment Task 2: Project Report
For this task, students have to refer to the simulated business case study 'Sim's Hardware'. Sim's Hardware is an old Australian business dealing with supply of hardware. With time, business's technology, operations and practices have become obsolete leading to fall in the revenues. For this reason, management has decided to hire an external innovation and development consult to review the business and make suggestions for leading innovative thinking and practice in the organisation.
Student has to assume himself as the appointed Innovation and Development consultant and write a report. The report has to be written in a professional format with no less than 2000 words. There is no specific format for the report, however, student must discuss the following:
1. Introduction of the business.
2. Current position of the business and the problems being faced.
3. Range of techniques and tools that can be used to generate innovative ideas and new thinking to foster personal and team innovation.
4. Using the identified techniques and tools, research, review and critically analyse the trends which are shaping organisation's current and future thinking and practice, including the key concepts, current theories and processes.
5. Evaluate the overall context for innovative and creative thinking at both the individual level and the collective level, including for the organisational context, and for the broader industry context.
6. Review and consider the different leadership styles, selecting and using a personal leadership style to use in the workplace to model positive innovative thinking and practice. Document the personal leadership style selected, and at least three examples of how it was used to model positive innovative thinking and practice.
7. Review, challenge and refine your own style and practice in relation to modelling and supporting innovation. Document the review, including methods applied to refine your style and practice.
8. Identify, document and evaluate the risks associated with innovation within an organisation, documenting control measures suitable to manage these risks.
9. Establish, document, and use, appropriate methods to capture, communicate and share innovative ideas and practices within the organisation.
10. Explain the approaches to initiate and foster communication, consultation and team development approaches that support innovation.
11. Explain and establish mechanisms at the system and the process level that can support innovation.
12. Develop and document strategies which make innovation an integral part of the organisational activity.
13. Strategies to develop and monitor processes to ensure there is ongoing awareness of the individual and collective contributions to innovative thinking and practice. Provide a copy of the develop processes and evidence of the process monitoring.
14. Identify and analyse the potential barriers and risks to innovation, devising strategies to respond.
FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT TASK 3: PRESENTATION
In continuation of task 2, for assessment task 3, student has to assume himself as the appointed Innovation and Development consultant and deliver a presentation about his review of the organisation and suggestions to the management. There is no specific format of the presentation, however, student must discuss the following:
1. What are the techniques and tools that can be used to generate new ideas and thinking, including creative thinking techniques to foster innovation?
2. What are the conditions for innovation and the issues that impact on individual and collective innovative thinking and creativity?
3. What are the innovation drivers and enablers for Sim's Hardware?
4. Explain the personal leadership style to model positive innovative thinking and practice.
5. Determine the requirements to promote sustainable innovative activity for the operational context, and for the people involved.
6. Explain different means to promote knowledge transfer.
7. What are the risks associated with innovation in the organisation and what could be the possible mitigation strategies?
8. What could be the strategies to introduce and promote the creative thinking techniques, innovative practices, processes, products and/or services which arc appropriate to your audience and to the organisational requirements?
9. What are the resources required for innovation in the organization?
10. Discuss the strategies to foster a workplace culture capable of encouraging innovation.
11. Explain the potential barriers and risks to innovation along with the strategies to respond.
12. As an Innovation and Development consultant, reflect on your performance while reviewing and suggesting innovation practices.
