Task 1 - Concept Idea Design #1

This assessment task requires you to originate and develop a concept for products, programs, processes or services to an operational level, which will be dependent on the environment in which the Assessment takes place. This assessment may be undertaken in an actual business environment or utilising a simulated business environment. You are required to:
generate concepts and ideas that provide innovative solutions to identified issues
evaluate and test concepts and ideas
present ideas and information to others and reflect on responses
develop at least two concepts, substantiated and supported with sufficient information to allow implementation to occur.
and the idea or concept may be one of:
art and craft works
advertising campaigns
business services and processes
designs
festivals
films
interactive digital media products
live entertainment productions or events
manufactured products
marketing and promotional campaigns
museum and gallery exhibitions
photoimaging services
radio or television programs
depending on the identified issue.
Ensure you fully document the process by firstly completing the attached design brief template to outline the identified issue to be addressed.
The deign brief must be based on existing information that informs new concept development, including:
creative brief
market research
organisational vision
personal vision and creative aspiration
Once you have developed the idea or concept, complete the Idea Assessment Worksheet. Ensure that you maintain communication with stakeholders, which may include:
administrative staff
clients/customers
designers and other creative personnel
directors
external suppliers
information technology personnel
management
program producers
technical specialists
writers
throughout the idea or concept creation process.
The concept or idea must take the following into account and should be developed with respect to organizational standards and requirements related to:
cost-effectiveness
evaluation against competing priorities
fit with personal vision and aspirations
fit with strategic directions of organisation
fit with target market needs
how innovative the concept is
level of risk
potential benefits
technical feasibility
time to realise the concept

Finally, produce a specification sheet and obtain sign-off on the specification and design.
The creation implementation specifications can include:
briefs for work
detailed specification of concept including purpose and content
operational plan with responsibilities and time lines
resources breakdown (financial, human and physical)

Your idea and your target market

1. Briefly describe your idea or invention.

2. Can you prove that your idea works? For example, have you built a working prototype?

3. Describe your target market (the sorts of customers who would buy your invention). How would your product or service help them in their daily lives? For example, would it make doing a particular task quicker and easier (like online shopping), or more convenient (like online banking)?

4. What products or services do you think are your key competitors?

5. What is your competitive advantage?

6. What makes your product or service much better value to the customer than what they already use or do?

7. What Australian or international regulations or laws apply to your idea? For example, regulations on product safety or industry standards.

8. What other constraints apply to your idea? For example, regulations size, weight, packaging or power source?

9. What is your business model? How will your idea generate revenue?

10. What would the supply chain for this product or service look like? Where would you fit in?

11. Have you developed relationships with the people or companies you need to work with to take your idea to your customers?

12. Have you protected your idea by obtaining a trademark, design right, patent, domain name for your website, or other formal process?

13. Have you identified what would stop a competitor from producing something similar to your idea? For example, you may have specialised equipment, a strong brand reputation, or access to particular suppliers.

14. Have you checked that you are not accidentally copying another person's idea or invention? If their idea is legally protected (e.g. by a patent), you might be at risk of infringing their intellectual property.

15. How are you going to find your customers?

17. What are some of the features or benefits of your product or service? How would you describe these to potential customers?

18. How much sales revenue will you need for your idea to be profitable after costs?

19. How much capital do you require from investors and how will you use it?

Task 2 - Concept Idea Design #2

This assessment task requires you to originate and develop a concept for products, programs, processes or services to an operational level, which will be dependent on the environment in which the Assessment takes place. Note: This must be a difference idea or concept to Task 1. This assessment may be undertaken in an actual business environment or utilising a simulated business environment.

You are required to:
generate concepts and ideas that provide innovative solutions to identified issues
evaluate and test concepts and ideas
present ideas and information to others and reflect on responses
develop at least two concepts, substantiated and supported with sufficient information to allow implementation to occur.
and the idea or concept may be one of:
