Sensation is the felt effects of energy impinging on our sensory receptor cells, and sound waves, the molecules that stimulate the olfactory and gustatory cells, and the pressures that deform the tactile receptors located under the surface of our skin.

Perception is the process of representing consciously what objects and events in the external world could produce these sensations.

The task of transforming sensation into perception is called transduction. We are unaware of the immensity of stimulation bombarding our sensory system at every moment. From the traditional five senses, sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste.

What does this statement mean as it relates to hearing? The Transduction of Sensory Information to perception Occurs Through a Series of Stages Beginning with the Passage of the Physical Energy of the Stimulus Through the Structure of the Receptive Organ, in this Case the sense of "Hearing"
