A pair of individuals have decided that they wish to have a child. Both individuals have been blind since birth, and do not feel as though the inability to see has had a detrimental impact on their lives. Furthermore, neither has any experience with the visual/sighted world. Given the circumstances, the couple wishes to use PGD to select for a child with a high probability of being born visually impaired and/or blind, as they feel that is the child for whom they would be able to provide the best life. Would Julian Savulescu evaluate such a decision as morally acceptable, why or why not?
