BIT417 Advanced Web Development - Emirates College of Technology

LO1, Introduce the basic knowledge for developing web applications using servlets and Java Server Pages (JSPs).
LO2, ReviewHTML and CSS technologies.
LO3, Explainthe Servlet life-cycle model, and develop web page using the servlet skills.
LO4, Explore the Java Server Pages (JSP) Technology Model, and develop JSP pages.
LO5, Design and implement dynamic web applications using Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) and Java Persistence API (JPA).

Q1) Project Tasks
Create a web development system using HTML, JSP, Servlet page and MySQL Database. Your project should contain the following requirements. You are free to choose any system to create your web development.

1. Create one table with not less than four attributes using MySQL Database.
2. Connect your application with your database.
3. Create a header and footer page as the following:
a. The header page should contain the title of the web application and a navigation bar with buttons (Home, register, and search) allowing to navigate to the appropriate page.
b. The footer page should contain the student's name and id.
4. The index page should contain information about your web application with any image and include the header and footer pages.
5. The registration page should have a registration form based on database table. When the userclicks on the submit button after filling all fields, then the page redirects to the servlet page.
6. This Servlet page should check if the entered data are valid or not, if yesthe system should save all the data into the database and display a message "Registration Successfully". Otherwise the system should redirect to the index page.
7. The search (JSP) page should contain a form with a text box that allow the user to enter the search values and the system should retrieve the data from the database based on the search value (the result data should be displayed into a table), otherwise if there is no data, then display a message "No data found for the search value".
8. Apply three appropriatestyle sheets on your application.

Q2)Task : Presentation

Each student should present his/her work in front of their classmates.
The evaluation of your presentation will be based on the following criteria:

Accuracy of the presentation
Presentation skills
Quality of discussion

The requirements above have to be documented in a report.
