Consider the binary reaction 14C(p,n)14N where p indicates a proton and n a neutron. The neutron emerges at an angle of 90° with respect to the direction of travel of the incident proton. Determine for incident proton kinetic energies of 2.0 MeV and 0.5 MeV whether the reaction is possible. (Note: Ignore the effect of the Coulomb barrier that the incident proton would have to surmount.)
