Discussion Forum 5: Flavor, Baking, Recipe Makeovers, Balanced Menus or Review of Flavor, Baking, Recipe Makeovers, Balanced Menus
Food is such a cornerstone of our existence. We have opportunities to provide our bodies with nutrients in many ways. Some foods will be more beneficial to our bodies than others. It is possible to take foods you enjoy that are less nutritious and alter them to make them better. We need our foods to be enjoyable with flavor and balanced with nutrients. Discussion 5 encourages the review of many changes we can make. The following websites may provide you with some new ideas about how to change your daily meal plans. As with all forums, please provide enough information to create a discussion and read and respond to other students discussions.
Choose any of the websites for the topic of your choice. Ideally, there will be a variety of responses about all of the flavors, recipes and ways to balance your meals. In addition to your initial in-depth topic, you are expected to reply to a minimum of 2 or more other student posts. Please understand, you will be expected to provide detail to both the initial and the follow up posts. When responding to other students, add to the discussion. No points will be given for comments such as "Good Job" or "That is interesting." You must add information to the subject matter that can be commented on and adds to the overall discussion. Important: Do NOT copy and paste. Use your own words to convey what you learned from the site you visited. Share the url with the class so they can review the information if they are interested.
Forum 5: Ch 8 (Balanced Cooking Methods and Techniques. Ch 9 (Recipe Makeovers). Ch 10 (Balanced Menus). You can choose to review 1 or more of the following 3 sections. You can choose to review only one, but be sure to provide adequate information to promote discussion.

Select a balanced meal that includes an appetizer, entree, side dish and dessert. Using the nutrition information provided, add up the total number of Kcalories, fat, saturated fat and sodium in your meal.
