Project - Brief History of Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange

Exchange (ADX): Analytical study of the Industrial sector.

Project objective:

Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange ADX was founded and began to operate at the end of the year of 2000. When it was first established, it was known as the Abu Dhabi Securities Market. By the law, ADX has "a legal entity of autonomous status, independent finance and management". The Market provides investors with opportunities to invest in securities which are aimed at developing the national economy. Investors may invest their savings and funds in various sectors within a legal and safe entity which ensures accurate and honest transactions. All deals are carried out fairly and appropriately within ADX.

The main objective for this project to make analysis ofthe companies in the UAE listed in ADX by providing the examples of fivecorporations which have been operating in the UAE for quite some time now. Moreover, the project aims to outline the performance of the five selected corporations and provide guidelines as to how to identify a safe investment opportunity.

The objective of this project will achieve through collect accounting data for the fivecorporations throughout 10 years including balance sheets and income statements then reach to the financial situations and arrive at a financial analysis and conclusions through numerous methods such as:

- Time series analysis (vertical)
- Cross sectional analysis (horizontal)
- Ratio analysis
(Note: the student should use one of the three types above)

The report should have the following items:

A. An overview for ADX and one of the three types of analysis:

The student should introduce an overview for Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange ADX, and the types of financial analysis

B. The Project objective

The student should introduce an overview for the objective for this project, and it should be directly related to the title of this project: Assessing the financial situation of the companies listed on Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX): Analytical study.

C. The Project problem

"The investor in stock market in general and in ADX especially faces a difficulty in determining financial ratios which define the financial situation and the return level that can be achieved through stocks of companies listed in stock exchange."

The student should use the paragraph above to derive the projects question that expresses the Project problem.

The students have toclarify the sources of data, and collection methods.

It mentioned above that the three types of analysis are:
Time series analysis (vertical)
Cross sectional analysis (horizontal)
Ratio analysis

After the students select the type that they want to use it, they should to determine the ratios that they will use like: ROA, ROE, Debt to equity, ROI..etc
