A manometer is connected to a water pipe to measure the pressure at the center of the pipe. The manometer is constructed so that for a given pressure at the center of the pipe, water rises 35inches from the center of the pipe. The manometer is a double-U design, so oil with a specific gravity of 0.80 extends up from the end of the water hieght, through the first bend of the manometer, and continues down until the oil is 60 inches below the 35 inch mark. This is followed by mercury with specific gravity of 13.6, which extends through the second and final U bend of the manometer, and rises 15 inches above the beginning of mercury. In the open end of the manometer, another vertical section of oil with specific gravity of 0.80 has height of 40 inches. At a location where the local atmospheric pressure is 14.2 psia, determine the absolute pressure at the center of the water pipe.
