A liquid zone control unit has a diameter of 10 inches. The water is filled to a height of 0.5m. The thermal neutron flux through the zone is 7timeslO15n/cm2-s. The light water contains 10%LiOH. Assume no heat losses outside of the zone. First, how long will it take to boil? Assume addition of LiOH does not affect boiling point. Second, what rate of flow through the zone control unit is necessary to ensure the tank does not boil.
