Assessment Instructions
By the start of Week 2, you will be able to view your assigned miscommunication events by clicking the ‘View Assigned Miscommunication Events' button located in the Assessments table.

Each event will involve a different communication channel: one spoken interaction (such as a conversation or phone call) and one written exchange (such as an email or text message). For each event, you must first describe what happened in about 100 words. Your description should include who was involved, what occurred, where and when it happened, and what the outcome was. Use clear and straightforward language.

Next, you will analyse each event in around 150 words using The Basic Model of Communication. Your analysis should explain why the miscommunication occurred and how it could have been avoided or resolved using the model. The focus is on applying theory to real-life situations.

Your written analysis must be structured with headings. Begin with a brief introduction (1-2 sentences), followed by Event 1 and Event 2 (each with a description and analysis), and finish with a short conclusion (1-2 sentences). You must also use at least three (3) sources of information to support your analysis, along with the content covered in weeks 1 to 3. These sources may include websites, social media sites, industry reports, census data, journal articles, and newspaper articles. These references should be presented as in-text citations and a reference list at the end of your written analysis (not included in the word limit). Wikipedia and other ‘popular' sites are not to be used.
