Article: Anthropology and Climate Change.

Posted on October 10, 2019 by Mfink 1. In the article, "Anthropology and Climate Change", the author quotes Ainka A. Granderson who states: "Where changes are perceived as within the realm of past experience, anthropogenic climate change may not appear as a significant risk that warrants shifts in practice or knowledge." She also stated, "meanings and values attached to places" can shape societies' perception of climate change risks and levels of "acceptable level of loss."

Based on your understanding of Inuit culture, compare the perception of climate change by the Inuit versus Americans. Do you think Americans feel the risk of climate change or take it seriously? What role do you think "sense of place" has in this perception, keeping in mind that Americans are fairly mobile? Based on the video and the readings, how have the Inuit managed the impact of climate change? How have Americans dealt with the crisis?
