Directions: The purpose of this assignment is to research a program that has been created to assist inmates during their incarceration and release from jail. This assignment will introduce you to organizations that have been dedicated to creating a positive and successful future for inmates. Using the National Reentry Resource Center website, research an organization that was created to assist inmates in their return to society. On the National Reentry Resource Center website, you will find program examples under the Tools and Resources option located on the main page and to the left side. Once you have chosen an organization, create a short one- to two-paragraph summary and complete the questions located below.

You may conduct a search online for community corrections programs or reentry programs.

1. What is the name of the program you chose?

2. Would the public view this program as punishment? Why or why not?

3. If the community may not consider the program punishing to the offender, what could be changed to make it more like a punishment with consequences for the offender?

4. What restrictions may be in place to illustrate that offenders are not "free"?

5. Are offenders required to pay fees to be in the program?

6. Does a screening process exist to enter the program?

7. What are two security risks to the public with this program?

8. What type of program is it? Work release? Treatment?
