You initially studied the research concepts of reliability and validity back in Research Methods I. In their studies, qualitative researchers are also concerned with reliability and validity, although they may use different terms to discuss these concepts.

In a 2-3 page essay (suggested length): Compare/contrast reliability and validity in quantitative versus qualitative research.

For example, conduct independent research to find out what qualitative terms replace (or are synonymous) with "validity" and "reliability" in quantitative research.

Next, read "Determining Validity in Qualitative Inquiry" by Creswell and Miller (2000). Summarize validity from the lens (i.e., viewpoint) of: a) the researcher, b) the participant, and c) someone outside the project.

Finally, select one theoretical paradigm from Table 1 in Creswell and Miller (2000; Postpositivist, Constructivist, or Critical). Analyze the three qualitative validity procedures that correspond with that particular theoretical paradigm.
