Overview

Continuing from the previous assignment, you will carry out data collection using the interview method and interview questions you presented and conduct a general thematic analysis to investigate your research question.

Instructions

Data Collection: You will partner with two peers in this course and set up a time to conduct a mock interview that will be recorded. The peer learners will act as if they have expert knowledge of your topic. You will use the style and process you created in the Unit 8 assignment. Complete the following:

Develop a brief script to introduce your topic, research question, and purpose of the interview.

In a 3-5 minute recorded interview, ask two of the interview questions from your Unit 8 assignment.

Data Analysis: You will analyze the data set using a general thematic analysis process. To begin, you will transcribe both interviews on the template for this assignment (linked in Resources). Follow the steps below and instructions in the template. You will use your text and resources to provide specific directions on how to complete each phase. Be sure to analyze the data in context of the research question.

Transcribe verbatim the two interviews, including all of your words and the interviewee's words.

Read and reread the transcriptions to get an initial impression of the data.

Identify initial codes within the data that relate to the research question.

Identify the initial subthemes from the codes.

Identify the overall theme of the data collected as it addresses the research questions.

Additional Requirements

Written communication: Written communication is free of errors that detract from the overall message.

Length: 3-5 pages.

Font and font size: Times New Roman, 12 points.
