Your 4-5 page paper is to be on a CONTEMPORARY ETHICAL ISSUE (abortion, euthanasia, capital punishment, torture, drug legalization, etc.). It should be an issue on which YOU HAVE A STRONG POSITION. FIRST, BRIEFLY describe the argument for your position. Outline the major premises and conclusion in standard form IN YOUR OWN WORDS. NEXT, Investigate and BRIEFLY describe the argument for the opposing position. Outline the major premises and conclusion of the opposing argument in standard form IN YOUR OWN WORDS. FINALLY, determine whether the arguments are VALID based on their form, and evaluate each one for SOUNDNESS by testing the premises for truth. After analyzing both arguments, explain why you think your position was correct and the opposing one wrong. If you've modified or changed your position, state why.
