This assignment is designed to provide you with the opportunity to apply learning theory(ies) of your choosing to a current policy or program relevant to your area of interest. You will incorporate at least 10 research articles to help you become an "expert" in the chosen theory(ies). In a well-written, organized, and thoughtful paper you will include: (a) an abstract of no more than 150 words, (b) an introductory section containing an overview of the policy/program, (c) a brief overview of the relevant theory(ies) used to guide or explain this policy/program, (d) an explanation for how the theory(ies) relate(s) to the policy/program, and (e) a concluding section where you propose your critique of the merits of the policy/program and theory(ies). Counseling psychology students are expected to develop their papers using both cognitive and affective theories. That is, the papers should discuss human cognition and emotional factors and how they influence behavioral change and learning in a program.

The paper should be suitable for submission to an academic conference in education (e.g., American Psychological Association, American Educational Research Association, European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction, etc.). The paper must follow APA format (6th edition).
Points will be deducted for failure to adhere to the conventions of writing (e.g., consistent grammatical and/or spelling errors, frequent misuse of words or phrases, failure to organize writing in an effective manner).
