Air in a piston-cylinder assembly, initially at 290 K and 100 kPa, undergoes two internally reversible processes in series.

Process 1-2: Polytropic compression (n = 1.19) to pressure P2 = 500 kPa.

Process 2-3: Adiabatic expansion back to initial pressure of 100 kPa.
