Why is this discussion post agreeable Intimate partner/domestic violence was a topic that most victims do not want to discuss. Some people feel that IPV is a form of communication. I was surprised to learn that IPV occurs quite often in the homosexual community. I was interesting to find out that most lesbians do not report IPV and do not seek support from domestic violent shelters. It was also interesting to learn that men in homosexual relationships experience IPV at higher rates than homosexual women and heterosexual men. I knew that most victims of IPV do not leave because they love their partners and are committed to them. Woman also stay because of the children, and they stay for financial support. I think that the criminal justice system should be more supportive when it comes to IPV. Police should not make victims uncomfortable when they report IPV. Police and courts should be more supportive and so more sympathy to homosexuals reporting IPV. The criminal justice system should have special officers and court officials that specialize in IPV.
