Advise the parties on any claims that may arise out of the circumstances:
a) McQueen went to BestBuy to buy some ingredients for her restaurant, and some milk for herself. She chose a bottle of semi-skimmed milk from Farm Yard Dairy, along with the rest of her shopping.
Over the next couple of days, McQueen falls ill before being taken to hospital whereupon it is discovered she has suffered E.coli poisoning. Fortunately, none of the other customers in the restaurant have been taken unwell.
b) Bronson also went into Best Buy, and brought his three year old son, Garner, along with him. While Bronson reviewed his shopping list, he did not see that Garner had picked up a bottle of BestBuy's own brand bleach.
Garner twisted the cap which came off easily, and drank the contents. It transpires the bottle cap, though harder to open than usual, was not a special ‘child safety' cap.
c) Pleasance purchases a chainsaw from BestBuy, for her business Gardening Girls ("GG"). When she first used the chainsaw at Coburn's house, the chain came off and Pleasance dropped the saw which damaged a large garden chair in Coburn's garden.
The damage sustained to the chainsaw is fixed for £120, but it transpires the chair is very expensive, and will cost £1600 to fix. A brand new chair would be £2000.
